APPENDIX 7: GLOSSARY OF TEST MEASUREMENTS
amylase units/hour -- Amylase units per hour.
amylase units/liter -- Amylase units per liter.
Bessey-Lowery-Brock (BLB) units -- Standard of measure devised by Bessey, Lowery and Brock. Cannot be defined as any other unit of measurement.
Bodansky units -- Standard of measure devised by Bodansky. Cannot be defined as any other unit of measurement.
bpm -- Beats per minute.
c -- Centi; 1/100g. Centigram (cg) is a measure of weight; centiliter (cl) is a measure of volume.
Centi -- See "c".
d -- Deci; 1/10g. Decigram (dg) is a measure of weight; deciliter (dl) is a measure of volume.
dl -- Deciliter.
Erlich units/24 hours -- Erlich units per 24 hours. Erlich units are a standard of measure devised by Erlich. Cannot be defined as any other unit of measurement.
g -- Gram. Basic metric unit of measurement. All units are fractions of a gram or multiples of a gram. Gram (g) is a measure of weight; liter (l) is a measure of volume.
g/dl -- Grams per deciliter.
g/24 hours -- Grams per 24 hours.
Goldberg-Rutenberg units -- Standard of measure devised by Goldberg and Rutenberg. Cannot be defined as any other unit of measurement.
IU/dl -- International units per deciliter.
k -- Kilo; 1,000g. Kilogram (kg) is a measure of weight; kiloliter (kl) is a measure of volume.
kU/ml -- Kilo units per milliliter.
Liter -- See GRAM.
King Armstrong units -- Standard of measure devised by King and Armstrong. Cannot be defined as any other unit of measurement.
m -- Milli; 1/1,000g. Milligram (mg) is a measure of weight; milliliter (ml) is a measure of volume.
mcg (m) -- Micro; 1/1-millionth of a gram. Microgram (mcg) is a measure of weight; micro-liter (mcl) is a measure of volume.

u3/red cell -- Picograms per red cell.
uU/ml -- Picogram units per milliliter.
u/g -- Picograms per gram.
