BASIC INFORMATION

Bioflavinoids are a brightly colored, chemical constituent of
pulp and rind of citrus fruits, green pepper, apricots,
cherries, grapes, papaya, tomatoes, papaya, broccoli.
Chemicals this supplement contains:
Hesperidin
Nobiletin
Rutin
Sinensetin
Tangeretin

KNOWN EFFECTS:

  • Treats rare bioflavinoid deficiency characterized by fragile capillaries and unusual bleeding.
  • May act as an anti-oxidant, preventing vitamin C and adrenalin from being oxidized by copper-containing enzymes.

    Miscellaneous information:

  • Bioflavinoids are sold under the brand names Rutin, Hesperiden, CVP, duo-CVP, Hesper capsules, Hesper bitabs and are included in numerous vitamin/mineral supplements.
  • Enough bioflavinoids are present in food to make supplements unnecessary in healthy humans.
  • Commercial products such as tablets or capsules often contain vitamin C.

    UNPROVED SPECULATED BENEFITS

  • Increases effectiveness of vitamin C.
  • Prevents hemorrhoids.
  • Prevents miscarriages.
  • Prevents retinal bleeding in people with diabetes and hypertension.
  • Prevents capillary fragility.
  • Prevents nosebleed.
  • Prevents post-partem hemorrhage.
  • Prevents menstrual disorders.
  • Prevents blood clotting and platelet clumping.
  • Prevents easy bruising.

    WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

    Don't take if you:

  • Have a bleeding problem until studies are done to diagnose the underlying disease. Consult your doctor if you:
  • Self-medicate.
  • Take any medicinal drugs or herbs including aspirin, laxatives, cold and cough remedies, antacids, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, supplements, other prescription or non-prescription drugs.

    Pregnancy:

  • Notify doctor if you take supplements.

    Breast-feeding:

  • Notify doctor if you take supplements.

    Others:

  • None expected if you are beyond childhood and under 45, basically healthy and take for only a short time.

    Storage:

  • Keep cool and dry, but don't freeze. Store safely away from children.

    Safe dosage:

  • At present no "safe" dosage has been established.
